Keppie Coutts

Believe it or not, Pop can actually be quirky, fun and yes- even original. Strip away all the media stunts and artificial glamour from the Gagas and the Rihannas and you’ll end up with clichés, simplistic music and a whole lot of hot air. Keppie Coutts, on the other hand, may not strip for you in a dungeon and upload the pictures to Facebook but will reward you with clever lyrics, unique melodies and plenty of heart and sincerity. Which do you prefer? Hopefully the latter. Enjoy.

p.s. Features will be released once a week from now on.

Burned Again

Lyrics

Silence fills the room like smoke
And spills down the fire escape
I could run and save my pride
But there’s not a lot to save

My feet are raw from running on repeat
No lessons to be learned
When I can be burned again

Different this time you said
Hiding secrets up your sleeves
You’ve got a way to wear me down
To make me believe

My feet are raw from running on repeat
No lessons to be learned
When I can be burned again

I know by now how it ends
But a heart bent by habit is hard to mend
Stupid me for acting cool
In the face of such a cruel confession

No lessons to be learned
When I can be burned and burned
No lessons to be learned
When I can be burned again

Lyrics

Three full days had passed
before he stopped to ask what was wrong
You wiped your tears aside
And lied, you said “nothing”
Even though it was your birthday he forgot

Of all the things he’s said and done
it’s not the worst
But you know it’s not the last he’ll do
And it’s not the first

When every little landslide
Makes you want to run and hide
Until you’re paralyzed
Sitting on your hands
Waiting for the avalanche

Even after you walked away
you’re drawn to the ones who cause you pain
You thought you’d closed that door
You keep on getting hurt
Tell yourself it’s not worth it anymore

When every little landslide
Makes you want to run and hide
Until you’re paralyzed
Sitting on your hands
Waiting for the avalanche

When what you want’s not what you get
Experience is all that’s left
And it’s always worth the chance
You gotta jump, if you want to land

When every little landslide
Makes you want to run and hide
Until your paralyzed

Every little landslide
Makes you want to run and hide
Until you’re paralyzed
Sitting on your hands
Waiting for the avalanche
