Canadian singer/songwriter Thomas D’Arcy just released two singles from a new album that’s about to come out in February and what do you know- they’re both great! I can’t wait is a slow burner. Its ending blends into I Wake Up Every Day that really picks up the pace and ends up as pure awesomeness. Lend your ears to this talented guy:

I Can’t Wait

Lyrics

If you love me – and I’m sure that you do,
You’ll come back and help me again,
Tell me lies or rely on the truth,
As long as they’re words from a friend – my friend,
I can’t wait till I see you again.

It’s been years since I’ve seen you, I know,
But I know that that won’t matter much,
Never bothered to e-mail or phone,
There’s no need for us to keep in touch,
Cuz I know that it won’t matter much.

When we’re finished and glasses are empty,
And everything comes to an end,
Stumble back to a bed I can’t find,
In a town I don’t know where I only have one friend,
I can’t wait till I see you again.

Talk in shorthand with catlike indifference,
And rhythms we’ve known all our lives,
See right through me and I see you, too,
It’s always amazed me how often you’re right,
But I can’t wait until Saturday night.

I Wake Up Every Day

Lyrics

I wake up every day,
A glass of water and a pill for my headache,
I tell myself to change,
Good advice that I fail to take.

Everything breaks down eventually,
I don’t mind, I just keep on repeat,
Round and round in circles all the time,
I go home broke and satisfied,
Losing track of wrong and right.

I wake up every day,
A glass of water and a pill for my headache,
I tell myself to change,
Good advice that I fail to take.

I’m weak and uncertain,
What to do with myself late at night,
She’s sleeping, I’m bored, and on and on and on,
The TV lights are hurting my eyes,
I only know one way of life,
So I stumble outside again.

I wake up every day,
A glass of water and a pill for my headache,
I tell myself to change,
Good advice that I fail to take.

I wake up every day,
A glass of water and a pill for my headache,
I tell myself to change,
Good advice that I fail to take.
